Decluttering your mind

Are you feeling jammed up or bogged down with icky thoughts? Is there a bad attitude cloud floating around you and you cannot see your way through it? Do you feel like you are swirling in a jacuzzi of negativity and it’s starting to make you prune and languish? Are you tired of thinking negatively?

Yes, the fog of negativity can encapsulate the best of us even when we are working hard at being optimistic, positive, and choosing happiness.

For many of my clients, they feel like they are failing in their bold work when the fog of negativity catches them off guard.

As a gentle reminder, I help them understand that when we are overburdened by thoughts, ideas, and just too much of this and that – the fog of negativity seeps in without any of us knowing – and then, our bold and positive lens gets cloudy.

If you are feeling like you need a clearer vision, try these three questions to help declutter your mind:

-What cluttered your mind today?
(e.g. things to do, argument with my partner, water weight, friend getting new and better house than mine, bad teacher for my kid, House of Cards, bad sex, binging on Girl Scout cookies, stupid stuff on Facebook, I have not made the Front Row at SoulCycle,  etc.)

-Describe what was going on.
(e.g. I felt like a total failure when I saw my child’s report card. The grades were fine, but I know they were not accurate. My daughter’s teacher is a total inadequate pill. I should have spoken up sooner. I need to trust what my daughter tells me about that F’n class. It’s too late. I have failed my child and myself. I’m a bad mom and an incompetent adult.)

-What did you feel?
(e.g. I feel anger, mad, and sad. Damn it! I feel like I should be doing better and knowing better. I feel like too much is on my plate. I feel like I can’t keep up. I feel bad. I feel like a failure. I feel like I’m drowning. I feel like I’m suffocating.)
