"Kanesha, I'm hanging on by a thread. I don't know how all these parents are doing it. There are so many interruptions during my work day. It's hard to stay focused. I'm exhausted by 2pm everyday - and there is still more of the day I still need to live and deal with. And this election-fatigue is so daunting. I need a clone so I can tap out. *sigh* How can I get it together because I love these kids - but I'm drowning!"
Parenting is like a “full contact sport”.
Parenting during a pandemic and a pivotal election year is next level.
Even in my role as an educator and coach supporting parents - I have my own hard parenting days.
This is not easy - right now.
The mental strain is constant.
The demands and caregiving needs can be non-stop.
Keeping it all together can feel absolutely impossible.
When I start to feel like overwhelm is showing up - I have to be honest and compassionate with myself - and then inform my family.
I have to let some "balls" drop - and I need to cocoon.
I'm sure many of us could use a nice break right now to retreat and refuel.
Be sure to schedule some time for a retreat - each day - even if it's only for 10 minutes.
We don't have to keep it all together all the time.
Do your best to stay healthy, safe, and nourished, Bold-Thinkers!
